The Alta Audio Reference Tower is the flagship, reference floorstanding loudspeaker — an uncompromising system with as many as 11 drivers per cabinet, arranged in the proprietary Dual Plane Mirror Imaging layout (mirroring vertically and horizontally, with cascading crossovers converging on a single point). The result is a sound that approaches an ideal point source with unlimited bandwidth.
The low and low-mid frequencies are tuned by the proprietary XTL™ bass system (patent pending), delivering fast, deep-reaching bass (bandwidth from 14 Hz to 47 kHz). Ribbon tweeters with amorphous-core transformers and a powerful magnet provide an almost ideal impulse response — smooth and dynamic at once.
The system is designed for bi-/tri-amp operation (min. 100 W per channel) and is supplied with a dedicated DEQX electronic crossover featuring a high-quality digital-to-analogue converter. The passive crossovers use 12 AWG Litz coils and silver-foil capacitors, while the 10 AWG internal wiring was designed by Paul Kaplan (Waveform Fidelity). This is the absolute summit of the Alta Audio range.
