The MCTX is a passive step-up transformer for Moving Coil phono cartridges. It lets you use an MC cartridge with any MM phono preamplifier — without replacing the whole phono stage. It is the simplest way to enjoy MC sound in an existing system.
The transformer raises the signal level from the MC cartridge (×10 / 20 dB gain), matching it to an MM input (47 kΩ). A bypass switch (×1) allows an instant return to working with an MM cartridge. A low output impedance ensures a better match to the preamplifier.
A passive design, entirely hand-assembled, point-to-point, with no printed circuit boards — which eliminates unwanted changes to the sound. Intended for cartridges of 10–500 Ω impedance.
