The PS2 MM is an entirely valve, single-chassis phono preamplifier for Moving Magnet cartridges — a more accessible alternative to the PS1, retaining its characteristic warm, colourful sound. The circuit is based on the award-winning PS1 design, assembled using the same hand-soldering methods.
Whatever the rest of the system, the PS2 brings more warmth and colour to the sound — what typical transistor preamplifiers lack. The three-ECC83 circuit works with no global negative feedback, which favours naturalness and clarity of sound.
The design is entirely hand-assembled, point-to-point, with no printed circuit boards, using high-quality resistors and capacitors, silver-plated PTFE wiring and gold-plated sockets. A stereo/mono switch makes it easier to listen to mono records, and an optional transformer is available for MC cartridges.
