The Stereo 25 MkII is a more accessible version of the award-winning Stereo 40 — it retains Icon Audio’s characteristic warm sound at almost half the price. It operates in an ultra-linear push-pull configuration and delivers 30 W per channel, with an optional triode mode giving 19 W of an even purer character.
A fully triode input stage, inspired by classic Leak designs, drives EL34 or KT88 output valves. The design requires no bias adjustment when replacing valves of the same type, and thanks to compatibility with many valve types (6L6, EL34, 6CA7, KT66, KT88, 6550) it allows free experimentation with the sound (tube rolling).
The whole unit is hand-assembled, point-to-point, with hand-wound transformers with an additional (tertiary) winding, Solen capacitors and silver-plated PTFE wiring. A dedicated transformer winding serves a high-quality headphone output. A Bluetooth option is available.
