The Icon Audio Stereo 300 MkII is an integrated amplifier for listeners expecting the highest fidelity from moderate power. Built around the legendary 300B triodes — developed by Western Electric in the 1930s and still regarded as the pinnacle of quality in audio — it offers 30 W per channel in pure triode operation, with a deep, tangible soundstage and a midrange that audiophiles fall in love with.
The input section uses 6SN7 valves in a cascode arrangement, forming a precise, high-resolution driver circuit. The 300B valves are AC-heated, and a large choke-regulated power supply provides calm, even power. Audiophile Mundorf SCR capacitors (silver/gold in oil) and silver-plated PTFE wiring complete the design.
Sensitivity adjustment via changing the feedback (0; 6.25; 15.2 dB) allows the amplifier to be matched to the source and room, while the „easy bias” meter makes it easy to monitor the optimal operation of the 300B valves. It is an uncompromising and demanding design — it fully reveals the quality of loudspeakers and sources, so it works best with larger, efficient speakers.
