The Alta Audio Alec is a two-way floorstanding loudspeaker in a hybrid bass-reflex / transmission-line design — surprisingly compact, yet highly efficient with a full, open sound. It is proof that a simple, two-way design in Alta Audio’s hands can play like much larger speakers.
The driver complement comprises: an 8¾” bass-midrange driver with a Kevlar/paper composite cone (self-damping, low-mass, with a phase corrector that improves imaging) and a 5¾” aluminium ribbon tweeter (half an inch wide, neodymium magnet, very high power handling).
High sensitivity of 93 dB and a wide bandwidth (32 Hz – 47 kHz) mean the Alec works easily with a variety of amplifiers, including lower-power valve designs. Open, fast and refined ribbon sound — in an elegant, compact cabinet.
